Vis Online Courses - Spring 2010: Registration is open
Vis (International Volunteers for Development) seeks to enhance awareness and professional tools in the field of International Development Co-operation, through its Online Training Center: a complete series of online courses is delivered every year, in subjects such as Human and Sustenaible Development, Social Justice, Peace, Development Economics, Intercultural Education, Microfinance, Human Rights.
DBN: a new worldwide federation
DBN has been founded in January 2010 as a worldwide federation of Salesian development NGOs whose vision, mission and actions are based on the values and principles expressed by the Salesian tradition of solidarity with the poor.
The Federation, whose headquarters are in Rome, counts on the networking among 6 NGOs:
VIS (Italy), Dmos-Comide (Belgium), Jugend Dritte Welt (Germany), Jovenes y Desarrollo (Spain), Salesian Missions (USA), Noi per Loro (Italy).
Salesian Missions hit hard in Port-au-Prince, frantically working to provide aid, as humanitarian workers become victims and are among missing
Port-au-Prince, Haiti – In the wake of the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Salesian Missions is working around the clock to pull together emergency response teams and fundraising efforts to assist in the relief efforts. Among those in need of assistance are Salesians and missionary workers, and at least 200 students are believed to be buried in the ruble of the renowned “National School of Arts and Trades” operated by Salesian Missions.
Provide disaster relief in Haiti
Donations are urgently needed in Haiti after devastating earthquake to assist with the rescue and disaster relief efforts. Plans to re-establish our educational programs and other humanitarian programs are already underway. Salesian Missions is working hard to continue to provide for the children and families that already depended on them, in addition to so many others now in desperate need(Updated Jan. 26, 2010 – for more information, please visit the press room)
