INDIA: DON BOSCO ‘THANE CYCLONE’ RELIEF WORK
DBN NGOs are actively collaborating to support the people of India hit by the Thane cyclone. Here is the description of the situation by Fr. Johnson, the Salesian who is managing the relief work in Cuddalore.
Dec 30th was the day “THANE CYCLONE” struck Cuddalore - Pondy region. At early hours of 4.00 am as the people were deep asleep, they woke up with deep whirling wind piercing through the windows and doors. It was not only the noise of the wind but the heavy force (160 Kph) of the wind that shattered their whole little cottages and homes. The wind stopped at 6.00 am only for a while but came at 7.00am with mightier force in all directions as one could not ever think of, which just blown away all the thatched sheets and metal sheets of the roofing.
