Federal Bodies
DBN worldwide federation
The Network sets out to pursue human development with projects aimed at literacy, primary and secondary education, retraining teachers, vocational training and the start-up of small local businesses, paying particular attention to the development of employment. Its campaigns promote the role of women and human rights in general, especially those of children and adolescents. The distinctiveness of the DBN action is that by working with local Salesian Congregations it is present in almost every developing country and is able to carry out educational initiatives that directly impact one of the main courses of poverty. For this reason, despite working in countries often afflicted by civil strife, the Don Bosco Network favours the continuity of projects and programs which guarantee everyone real and enduring human development rather than becoming involved in temporary emergency operations.
Education to Development
In Europe and the USA the DBN proposes to awaken public opinion to the values of international solidarity and cooperation for development, and to contribute to the forming of a collective conscience more sensitive to the ties between those people that live in the developed "North" and those that live in the developing "South". Moreover, it acts to develop the skills, attitudes and values in people so they can work together for change: for a fairer, more sustainable and better world.
